Are you looking for a new challenge as a Team Leader who will set up a new Automation Design team? In this exciting role, you will be responsible for setting up, working along with, and providing leadership to a small team of engineers at our European Headquarters in Amersfoort. Your team will be responsible for designing and developing automated equipment used in the manufacturing process of medical devices. You will provide support to our production, engineering and various other teams. During the startup phase, the Automation Design team will be trained and will work closely with the equivalent US team. In this role, collaborating with the US team requires a bit of flexibility in order to participate in meetings and training (time zone differences apply).  

The Team Leader Automation Design is part of the Applied Medical Europe Maintenance organization and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Within Applied Medical, the title of this position is Team Leader Automation Design.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with the department on the automation and improvement of manufacturing processes to produce medical devices
• Lead a team of engineers and make sure that they are adequately trained, and that safety and quality rules are followed (e.g. CE, ISO, etc.)
• Create SolidWorks models, drawings, and assemblies
• Provide technical support, carry out root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
• Perform process capability studies, evaluations, and cost analysis
• Develop, update and peer-review engineering documents such as instructions, drawings, test procedures, and reports
• Investigate new tooling, materials, prototypes, manufacturing processes, and technologies
• Research and qualify new suppliers and vendors including requirements setting

• Engineering degree (HBO/HTS/BSc/MSc) such as industrial, manufacturing or mechanical, or equivalent engineering experience
• Experience in a highly regulated environment with planning and coordinating machine design automation processes
• In addition, 1-2+ years’ experience in a leadership position
• Technical analytical skills, a hands-on approach and an understanding of technical reasoning, prototyping, and manufacturing processes
• Experience in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent
• Experience with ERP, SAP and/or Product Lifecycle Management applications is preferred
• Excellent English both verbal and written is required and proficiency in Dutch is preferred
