Job Description

Due to our belief that learning is a lifelong endeavor, Applied Medical maintains a long-standing commitment to clinical training and educational programs for the surgical community. We enable training on the latest advancements in minimally invasive techniques, with a focus on improving patient outcomes.

As Manager Clinical Education, your primary responsibility is to set the long-term strategy and lead the seven team members of the Clinical Education team. The department’s initiatives within Europe aim to provide clinicians (primarily surgeons and surgical residents) with hands-on training opportunities that meet their educational needs and align with the focus of Applied Medical. You will develop the roadmap, improve education efficiency and effectiveness, streamline the learning curve and implement new surgical techniques through hands-on training programs.

 

You work closely with our European Field Implementation, Market Implementation, and Clinical Development teams and report to the Director Field Implementation. You are required to live in a location that allows you to work from our Amersfoort office when you are not traveling.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Define the department’s goals, priorities, budget, team size and strategy, in collaboration with senior management
  • Lead our efforts to build relationships with surgeons and societies that we can partner with to deliver high-quality training
  • Define and implement the necessary training models and ensure the effective coordination of surgeon training courses and proctorships
  • Develop new training programs, hands-on as well as online
  • Manage and facilitate the development of seven Clinical Education Managers/Specialists in the team, including the team members that are based in other countries
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the relevant surgical procedures and products and ensure that the team has the appropriate knowledge level
  • Evaluate requests to support 3rd party training courses/proctorship programs and determine the appropriate level of support to provide
  • Ensure that the effectiveness of our training initiatives is continuously evaluated and utilize this information to adjust our strategies if needed
  • Make sure that the Clinical Education team is providing the relevant internal stakeholders with regular updates on the projects, in order to ensure a coordinated effort across Applied Medical’s departments
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines/procedures

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant area
  • At least 5 years of management experience in a similar position in an international environment (e.g. management of clinical education, medical device sales, etc.)
  • Experience in engaging with hospital management and building relationships with Key Thought Leaders
  • Ability to effectively work with, motivate and lead people from different backgrounds
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably one other European language
  • Valid driver’s license and availability to frequently travel (i.e. up to 70%), including occasional weekend day(s)
  • Residing in a location that allows you to work from our Amersfoort office when you are not traveling
